Coaching F.A.Q.

Here are some commonly asked questions about the coaching experience.

I get it. I really do.

I was a little skeptical of coaching when someone first recommended I try using a coach.

It was my son, in fact, who said, “Mom, have you ever thought of trying a coach? I know of a good one!”

I mean, we have master’s degrees, right?? And coaching is not a well-regulated industry.

I was skeptical…AND I was at a point in my life and career where I was NEEDING to make some changes to survive and thrive.

My spouse was tired of hearing me complain. My friends thought I was a broken record. And many of my colleagues were in the same boat that I was.

I reached out to a coach named Kate and that was a pivoting point in my life and my career.

Best decision ever!!

Because of that one decision, and more carefully thought out ones after that, I am where I am today and that is so much better than where I was!

I am doing what I set out to do and reaching my goals.

It is actually happening for me.

And it will for you too.

I know that because you are here.

Coaching is not an expense. It is an investment in yourself and in your future.

Here are my answers to frequently asked questions.

Let me know if you have any more and I will happily answer them!

As Bill Gates said:
Everyone needs a coach. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a basketball player, a tennis player, a gymnast or a bridge player. We all need people who will give us feedback. That’s how we improve.

Coaching enhances performance, drive, and focus. It unlocks the potential of the coachee, resulting in empowering self-directed learning and development.

What do we talk about in a coaching session?

We talk about what YOU want and need to talk about.

I don’t have an outline or list of things that I want to be sure we talk about.

This is your time.

You talk and I listen and we go from there based on what you want and need.

The course of our time together is very dynamic and it’s all about you and exploring your thoughts, ideas, challenges, hopes, and dreams.

I have an outlined coaching course called, Coaching to Ignite Change, that gives us a framework for discussion, exploration, and growth. We will have lots to discover!

How is SLP career coaching different from life coaching?

Life coaching is great however it is not the same as professional career coaching.

Life coaching is focusing on your overall life plans while career coaching can encompass life scope, its focus is on pursuing your career goals.

My coaching career initially started off as a life coach and the more SLPs, I worked with, the more I realized that SLPs are looking for specific career advice.

As an SLP with many years in the field, I have seen so much!

I returned for a Certified Professional Coaching certification and now I am living my dream as an SLP career coach, a guide, helping SLPs navigate their challenges and careers.

Coaching is the missing link!

How much does it cost?

Coaching can be purchased individually in hour sessions or bundled together into a 4 session package.

Almost everyone purchases the bundles as this allows them to do the deep dive they are looking for.

How you spend your time purchased is up to you.

We can meet as long as you’d like or as short as you need.

The smallest increments of time are 15 minutes.

You decide.

It’s all about you and what you need.

68% of individuals who hired coaches were able to make back their investment. Those who make a financial gain on their coaching can on average expect 3.44 times the amount spent. (2009 ICF Global Coaching Study)

According to a study, coaching has a 221% ROI. (International Society for Performance Improvement)

51% of companies with a strong coaching culture report higher revenue than their industry peer group. (Human Capital Institute)

What do people say about coaching?

99% of individuals and companies who hire a coach are “satisfied or very satisfied” and 96% say they would repeat the process. (ICF Global Coaching Client Study)

How do I know it works?

Because I am living proof.

I found myself at a point in my career and life that I needed something more than what I had.

I found an incredible coach and began to dream about, plan for, and create the future that I wanted.

I am doing it.

I am living a career that I once only dreamed of because I worked with a coach.

You can follow in my footsteps and the footsteps of other SLPs who were brave, took those first steps and are now working on making their dreams come true.

There are two kinds of people – the talkers and the doers.

I am a doer.

I deliver goosebumps.

What kind of a person are you?
